Community Standards

Last Updated: May 18, 2026

MWM — Movement Within the Movement — is a financial awareness movement within the labor movement. This platform exists to help working people build financial confidence in a space that is safe, respectful, and judgment-free. These Community Standards apply to everyone who participates on MWM Financial Awareness — whether you are submitting a question, reading a lesson, or engaging with the platform in any other way.

1. Respectful Participation

MWM Financial Awareness is built on the same values that drive the labor movement: dignity, solidarity, and mutual respect. Every person who comes to this platform deserves to be treated with basic human decency — regardless of where they are in their financial journey, what they earn, how much they know, or what questions they are asking.

The following are not permitted on this platform:

  • Harassment, threats, or abusive behavior directed at any person
  • Hate speech or discriminatory language based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, nationality, disability, or any other characteristic
  • Intimidation or personal attacks
  • Language or behavior designed to shame, belittle, or discourage other users

There are no dumb questions here. Financial knowledge is not evenly distributed, and that is exactly why this platform exists. Everyone starts somewhere — and this community is built to support that journey, not to judge it.

2. Anonymous Questions & Privacy

You may submit questions to Journeyman Joe without providing your name. This is by design. We want every worker — at every stage of their financial journey — to feel comfortable asking questions without embarrassment or fear.

Do not submit Social Security numbers, account numbers, passwords, or other highly sensitive personal or financial information through this platform. Questions are reviewed and may be published publicly. Keep your questions general rather than specific to your personal situation.

All submitted questions may be reviewed by platform moderators before being answered or published. Moderation is intended to protect users and maintain the quality of the educational content — not to discourage genuine questions.

3. Educational Purpose

MWM Financial Awareness is an educational platform. All content — lessons, Q&A answers, and guides — is provided for general educational and informational purposes only. It is not individualized investment, tax, legal, or insurance advice.

Participating in this platform — including submitting questions or reading answers — does not create an advisory relationship, attorney-client relationship, or any other professional relationship of any kind.

Please use this platform as a foundation for building financial knowledge. For decisions specific to your situation, always consult a licensed and qualified professional.

4. Moderation & Content Review

MWM Financial Awareness reserves the right to review, edit, hide, or remove any submitted content — including questions, comments, or other contributions — for any reason, including but not limited to:

  • Content that violates these Community Standards
  • Requests for individualized advice that fall outside the educational scope of the platform
  • Submissions containing sensitive personal or financial information
  • Spam, scams, abusive content, or off-topic material
  • Content that could harm or mislead other users

Moderation decisions are made to protect the community and maintain a safe, constructive learning environment for all working people. Moderation is not intended to suppress genuine educational questions — it is intended to preserve the integrity of the platform.

5. No Spam or Promotion

This platform is a community educational resource — not an advertising channel, a marketplace, or a promotional platform. The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Spam of any kind
  • Scams or fraudulent content
  • Unauthorized advertising, solicitation, or promotion of financial products or services
  • Impersonating another person, organization, or brand
  • Content designed to redirect users to external services for commercial gain

MWM Financial Awareness does not sell or promote financial products. Submissions that attempt to use the platform for commercial purposes will be removed.

6. Worker-Centered Community

This platform was built for union members and working families — apprentices, journeymen, forewomen, retirees, and every worker in between. The values of the labor movement — solidarity, dignity, and collective support — are the foundation of this community.

We encourage every member of this community to:

  • Support other workers wherever they are in their financial journey
  • Ask questions openly and without shame
  • Share knowledge in a spirit of generosity and mutual empowerment
  • Respect the diversity of experience, background, and circumstance that working people bring

Financial awareness is part of the labor movement. When workers build financial confidence, the whole community is stronger.

7. Platform Safety

MWM Financial Awareness reserves the right to restrict, limit, or remove access for users who repeatedly violate these Community Standards or who engage in behavior that threatens the safety, integrity, or trust of the platform.

These standards exist to protect everyone — not to exclude. Users who engage in good faith, ask genuine questions, and treat others with respect are always welcome.

If you have a concern about content on the platform or believe these standards have been violated, you may submit a concern through the Ask Joe feature. We take the safety and integrity of this community seriously.

MWM Financial Awareness exists to help working people build financial confidence through respectful, practical, and accessible education. Thank you for being part of the movement.

These Community Standards may be updated from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
