MWM Financial Awareness is an educational platform built for union members and working families. MWM — Movement Within the Movement — is a financial awareness movement within the labor movement. We take your privacy seriously, and this page explains how we handle information in plain language — the same way we try to explain everything else.
1. Information We Collect
MWM Financial Awareness is designed to be a low-friction educational resource. We collect only the minimum information needed to operate the platform.
When you submit a question to Joe, that question is stored so that it can be answered and shared in the public Q&A for the benefit of the whole community. See the section below on anonymous submissions.
If you create an account, MWM may collect your email address, saved learning progress, lesson activity, preferences, and related platform usage data to provide a personalized learning experience.
If you use benefits-related tools such as the SPD question tool, MWM may process your submitted questions, selected plans or documents, retrieved excerpts, and related diagnostic information to provide answers, improve accuracy, prevent abuse, and maintain service quality.
MWM uses analytics tools, including Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, to understand how the platform is used, improve educational content, troubleshoot issues, and enhance user experience. Microsoft Clarity may collect interaction data such as clicks, scrolling, page navigation, device and browser information, approximate location, and session interactions. This data helps us understand how learners engage with content so we can make improvements. MWM does not collect account balances, financial records, or sensitive financial data through these tools.
For anonymous users, lesson progress (which lessons you’ve marked complete) may be stored in your browser’s local storage. This data is not transmitted to our servers unless you have an account.
You are not required to create an account to access most of this platform's educational content.
2. Sensitive Information — Please Read
Do not submit Social Security numbers, account balances, claim numbers, medical records, personal medical details, passwords, or other highly sensitive personal or financial information through this platform — unless MWM specifically provides a secure method and asks for it. Questions submitted to Joe are reviewed and may be published publicly. Protect your privacy by keeping submissions general and educational rather than specific to your personal situation.
While anonymous question submissions are encouraged, please be aware that IP addresses or other technical metadata may be captured as part of normal server operations.
3. How Information Is Used
Information collected through the platform is used to:
Operate and improve the MWM Financial Awareness platform.
Review, moderate, and respond to submitted questions.
Publish answers in the public Q&A for community learning.

No internet-based system is 100% secure. We encourage users to exercise good judgment about the information they submit — keeping questions general rather than sharing identifying or sensitive personal details.

You may access most educational content without creating an account. No personal information is required to browse lessons or use the Q&A.
For anonymous users, lesson progress is stored locally in your browser. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or site data.
If you have created an account, you may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account information.
If you have submitted a question and wish to request its removal from the public Q&A, you may contact us. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate reasonable requests.
You may use browser-level tools such as "Do Not Track" signals, Google Analytics opt-out extensions, and ad/tracker-blocking browser extensions to limit analytics data collection.
